  • Lake Hayes:
    Enjoy Lake Hayes for its many sporting activities (fishing, swimming, yachting, rowing and its 8.3km walking track around the lake).
  • Ski Fields:
    Coronet Peak (30-minute drive), Remarkables, (40-minute drive) and Cardrona Ski fields (45 minutes away).
  • Golf Courses:
    Millbrook Country Club, Michael Hill Golf (NZ Open) and Arrowtown all only 5 minutes away. Kelvin Heights 20 minutes.
  • Wineries:
    Gibbston Valley, Chard Farm, Peregrine and Amisfield wineries - 10-minute drive. Also try a wine tour of the district.
  • Historic Buildings:
    Take a guided walk around Arrowtown to find an array of historic buildings built during the 1860s gold rush.
  • Museum:
    The only one in the district at Arrowtown has an excellent display of the gold era.
  • Macetown:
    Walk or drive (4x4 only), 15km up the river from Arrowtown to Macetown where the first gold was found in the district in the 1860s. With 24 river crossings, it's a real adventure.
  • Walking Tracks:
    The Wakatipu Basin has a number of walking tracks, from short walks to day hiking trips through the high country's spectacular scenery.
  • The Vineyards:
    Try a wine-tasting tour of the district.
  • Golf:
    A course for every style of golfer.
